Sunpatch is provided by Szymon Dziedzic. You may use it on any device you own, for personal or professional purposes, under Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which these terms sit alongside: apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula.
Pro is available as a monthly subscription or a yearly subscription.
Sunpatch calculates the position of the sun using a published astronomical algorithm and combines it with obstructions you measure yourself. The sun's position is accurate. Your measurements are estimates, and so the result is an estimate: a fence entered two metres too tall, or a bearing taken next to a steel railing, will move the answer.
Plant requirements are drawn from published horticultural guidance and are general, not specific to your soil, climate, water or shelter. Sunpatch tells you about light. It cannot tell you whether something will grow.
Do not rely on Sunpatch for decisions where being wrong is expensive or dangerous — sizing a solar installation, planning construction, or anything involving trees that are not yours. Permission and local rules come before any figure this app gives you.
The Sun Coach is part of Pro and needs an account, because it runs on a server and costs money for each answer. It is limited to a fair number of questions per hour.
Answers are written by a language model from the measurements the app computed. They are suggestions, not professional advice, and can be wrong. The sun figures the app calculates are not produced by the model.
Sunpatch is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from its use, including loss of plants, crops, time or money.
Signing in is optional. You can measure spots, read every chart and buy Pro without one. An account backs your spots up so they survive a lost phone, and it is required for the Sun Coach, which runs on our server rather than on your phone.
You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details to yourself. We may suspend an account that is being used to abuse the service — for example by automating the Sun Coach past its fair-use limit. You can delete your account, and everything in it, from Settings at any time; that is immediate and cannot be undone, and it does not cancel a subscription.
Signed out, everything you enter stays on your device, and deleting the app deletes your spots permanently. Signed in, your spots are also copied to your own private area in the cloud so you can get them back. See the privacy policy.
These terms may be updated; the current version always lives at this address. Continuing to use the app after a change means accepting it.
