ShuttleIQ: Beep Test
Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data ShuttleIQ: Beep Test (“ShuttleIQ”) for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch processes, why, and what choices you have.
In short
- No sign-up and no account with us. No ads, no tracking, no analytics or crash-reporting tools.
- Your athletes, results and heart-rate data stay on your device, unless you turn on the optional cloud backup.
- AI features run on your device. AI Line Judge never records, stores or sends camera images.
- Health data is never used for advertising and never sold.
1. Who is responsible
The controller of personal data processed in connection with ShuttleIQ is Szymon Dziedzic, an independent developer based in Poland. Contact: chochoapps@gmail.com.
2. Data stored on your device
ShuttleIQ keeps its data in a database on your device:
- Athlete profiles you create: name, bib number, year of birth, sex, body mass, group, sport, target level and notes.
- Tests and results: date, protocol, venue, surface, notes, level and shuttle reached, distance, time, estimated VO₂max, warnings, heart-rate data (samples, peak, average, recovery), pacing (turn times) and AI-generated summaries.
- Settings and whether ShuttleIQ Pro is active.
We have no access to this data. You can edit, export or delete athletes and tests in the app at any time; deleting the app deletes them from the device. Like other app data, they are included in your device backups (iCloud Backup or a computer) if you use them.
3. People you add
If you record data about other people, such as your team, club members or students, make sure you’re allowed to: for example with their consent or, for children, the consent of a parent or legal guardian where required. Record only what you need. You decide what is recorded, whether it goes to the cloud backup and when it is deleted.
4. Apple Health
- iPhone and iPad: with your permission, ShuttleIQ saves tests as workouts (indoor run with distance) to Apple Health. It doesn’t read any data from Health.
- Apple Watch: with your permission, ShuttleIQ reads your heart rate during a test through a workout session and saves the test as a workout with distance and active energy.
Health data is used only for the app’s features: showing heart rate, confirming effort, measuring heart-rate recovery and improving estimates. It isn’t used for advertising or marketing, isn’t sold and isn’t shared with third parties, except through the cloud backup described below if you turn it on. You can change permissions at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Health.
5. Apple Watch motion sensors
The watch app uses the motion sensors to detect your turns at each line and analyze pacing. Motion data is processed on the watch; only the resulting turn times and heart rate are sent to your paired iPhone.
6. Camera (AI Line Judge)
AI Line Judge analyzes the camera image in real time on your device (Apple Vision) to check whether athletes reach the line before the beep. Images and video are never recorded, stored or sent.
7. On-device AI
AI summaries and coaching tips are generated on your device by Apple’s on-device model (Apple Intelligence), where available. Your data isn’t sent to us or to any AI provider.
8. Optional cloud backup (Google Firebase)
Cloud backup is off by default. If you turn it on in Settings › Cloud backup and agree:
- What is sent: the athlete profiles, tests and results listed in section 2, including heart-rate and pacing data, plus technical metadata (app version, platform, number of records, time of the last sync).
- Where: Google Cloud Firestore (Firebase), data location us-central1, United States. The app signs in with Firebase Authentication using an anonymous account: a random identifier with no email address, phone number or name.
- Who can access it: security rules allow only your anonymous account to read and write your backup. Google stores it for us as a service provider (processor). Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
- Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and, for health data, Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time by turning the backup off; this doesn’t affect processing that took place before.
- Deletion: Settings › Cloud backup › Delete cloud data removes your backup from the server. Turning the backup off only stops syncing; the existing copy stays until you delete it. You can also ask us by email. Include the account ID shown in Settings › Cloud backup, because the backup isn’t linked to your name or email address.
- Retention: until you delete the backup or ask us to.
- Transfers outside the EEA: Google LLC participates in the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, and transfers are also covered by the Standard Contractual Clauses in Google’s data processing terms.
- Like any online service, Google processes technical connection data such as your IP address to deliver the service. The Firebase libraries also send Google technical diagnostics that aren’t linked to you (such as the library version and platform), which Google uses to maintain and improve Firebase. See Privacy and Security in Firebase.
9. Purchases
Subscriptions and one-time purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We don’t receive your payment details; the app only checks with Apple whether Pro is active.
10. Exports and sharing
When you export or share results (for example as PDF or CSV), the file goes to the app or person you choose, and their privacy practices apply from then on.
11. What we don’t do
No advertising, no tracking across apps or websites, no data brokers, no selling or renting of data, and no analytics or crash-reporting tools.
12. Children
ShuttleIQ is designed for coaches, PE teachers and athletes. It has no accounts, chat or social features. Children should use it with a parent or guardian. Teachers and coaches who record data about children: see section 3.
13. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify and erase your data, to restrict processing, to data portability, to object, and to withdraw consent at any time. Most of your data is only on your device, where you control it directly. For anything else, write to chochoapps@gmail.com. You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority; in Poland this is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO).
14. Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll publish the new version on this page and update the date at the top. Earlier versions remain in the public history of this page.
